Tan is one of those colours that men tend to walk past and then wonder why their casual outfits feel flat. It sits between beige and brown in a way that actually works with most skin tones, layers well against navy, olive, and white, and gives a plain outfit some warmth without shouting about it. The problem is that most tan t-shirts are either too yellow, too washed out, or made in a fabric that looks cheap by the third wear. We’ve been looking specifically for the ones where the colour is right, meaning earthy and considered rather than sandy and accidental, and where the fabric has enough weight to hold its shape. Crew neck or subtle v, the fit has to be clean. Not oversized in a way that reads sloppy, not slim in a way that reads trying too hard. These are the ones we’d reach for first when building an outfit from scratch.
