Most men treat shorts as an afterthought and it shows. Elastic waistbands, shapeless hems, fabric that looks fine folded on a shelf and terrible on an actual person. The belted short is a different proposition entirely. The belt loop construction forces a proper waistband, which means a cleaner line at the hip, better drape through the thigh, and a finished look that works somewhere beyond the garden or the beach. We’ve been particular about fit here because shorts are less forgiving than trousers. Too long and you’re swallowed. Too short and it’s a different problem. Linen, cotton twill, structured chino cloth. Colours that work with what you already own. Wear them with loafers and a tucked shirt and nobody is calling them casual.
