The fitted crew neck had its moment and we’re not here to bury it. But there’s a reason the boxy cut has taken hold in a serious way. Worn right, it reads considered rather than casual. It sits better over the kind of trousers men are actually wearing now, wider leg trousers, pleated chinos, relaxed denim, and it doesn’t fight the silhouette. It works with it. The problem is that boxy can go wrong fast. Too much drop and it looks accidental. Wrong fabric weight and it loses its shape by lunchtime. What we’ve been looking for specifically are cuts with enough structure to look intentional, fabric that holds through a full day, and a length that works tucked out without swamping you. Shoulder seams that sit where they should. Hems that don’t flare. These are quiet details that make an enormous difference in practice. The ones here get all of that right and most of them cost less than you’d expect.
